Watt2Buy is led by the founders of Walawalkar Enterprise LLP, who between them have advised hundreds of companies, governments and investors on the clean-energy transition.

PhD, Carnegie Mellon University

25 years in the energy industry — spanning policy, investment, and technology commercialisation. Founded the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) in 2012 and led it for 13 years to 400+ members across 15 countries. Advised 200+ companies, mentored 50+ startups, and catalysed over $3 billion in clean-energy investments. In 2025 launched Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA), a global net-zero alliance. Advisor to CERC, NITI Aayog and MNRE. Called the “Energy Storage Man of India” by the Chairman of India’s Central Electricity Authority.

Leads C&I energy strategy at WE LLP — renewable procurement, sustainability roadmaps, and energy cost optimisation for manufacturing, data-centre and IT clients (typical engagements deliver 20%+ energy-cost reductions). The why

Why we built Watt2Buy.

Most “EV vs petrol” calculators on the Indian internet are built by dealers, OEM marketing teams, or foreign TCO tools that quietly use European assumptions. They get two things wrong:

They don’t reflect how Indian consumers actually drive — short city trips, slow DC charging adoption, 2W-first households, informal resale. And they don’t reflect how Indian power actually comes out of the wall — state-level DISCOM tariffs from ₹3.8 to ₹9.2 per kWh, grid carbon intensity varying 2× between Gujarat and Kerala, road-tax waivers that disappear halfway through ownership.

Watt2Buy exists to give every Indian buyer a transparent, honest, source-cited answer to one question: for my city, my driving profile and my financing situation, is an EV the cheaper and cleaner choice?

Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA) and Walawalkar Enterprise LLP are separate legal entities with independent governance; Dr. Rahul Walawalkar serves as President of WE LLP and as a President of Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA), with formal recusal from Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA) decisions involving WE LLP products.

Watt2Buy is aligned with the work of Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA)’s Sustainable Mobility Council and C&I Decarbonization Council. A formal knowledge-partnership memorandum is being finalised. Independence

How we stay free — and stay honest.

Watt2Buy costs money to run. We fund it through:

·WE LLP corporate contribution (the primary source).
·Potential future non-earmarked affiliate fees on test-drive and dealer-quote buttons — disclosed in /terms §6. Any such fee is revenue to WE LLP, not to the Watt2Buy ranking engine.

We have not received any funding from Net-zero Energy Transition Association (NETRA) or any other industry associations. We do not accept sponsored placements, pay-to-rank, or “featured brand” slots of any kind.
